Head Coach: Betsy McGeoch

Betsy has been involved with the Sculpins and the sport of synchronized swimming for over 20 years - First as a parent of two Sculpin athletes, then as an assistant coach, and most recently, as head coach, level 4 judge, and level 3 coach. Her background is in swimming instruction, she has been a WSI swimming instructor since 1984 and was the manager of The Swim School for 7 years. Betsy brings this expertise in stroke development and refinement to the newest swimmers in the club. Betsy is a strong supporter of quality novice-level programs. She has developed progressive programs for Sculpin beginners and novices and has worked with local Girl Scout groups to create a "synchro patch" that girl scouts can earn through working with the Sculpin athletes.

Tracy Neitzel

Tracy has been coaching with the Sculpins for 9 years. She coaches beginner, novice and intermediate athletes. Tracy has many years of aquatics experience and has also taught swimming and white water canoeing. A current Level 3 judge and level 2 coach, Tracy competed in synchronized swimming in the 1960's where she excelled at floats, patterns, and ornamental strokes. She continues to be amazed by changes in the sport and impressed by the degree of difficulty today's athletes achieve. She was first drawn back to the sport when her daughter, Sara, joined the team. Sara swam for the Sculpins for 10 years before moving on to College. Tracy, however, is still coaching and still enjoying her time with the Sculpins. When she is not working with the Sculpins Tracy is the executive director of Joseph's House & Shelter in Troy, NY.

Amy McGeoch

Amy swam for the Sculpins from 1987 to 1999. While with the Sculpins she earned medals at the Association, Zone and Regional levels and swam in many national championships - placing in the top 10 two times. Amy then went to Keuka College in Penn Yan, NY where she continued her synchro career on the varsity synchro team. She competed in four US Collegiate Nationals while at Keuka. Amy graduated in 2003 with a B.S. in Biology and her Master of Public Health degree from SUNY Albany in 2005. She is currently working at Albany Molecular Research Inc. as a Lab assistant. Amy is a level 3 judge.

Jennifer Houlihan

Jen is also a Sculpin alumna having swam as a Sculpin for 8 years. Jen graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 1998 (BA - Literature/Rhetoric, Political Science) and Rhode Island College in 2001 (MAT - English). Jen currently teaches 11th & 12th grade Honors/AP English at Albany High School and is pursuing her Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction at SUNY Albany. She is the former head coach of the Synchro Knights and was a co-founder of the Empire Gaviatas - both teams swam in the Binghamton area. Jen is certified as a USSS Level 3 coach; she is also a Level 4 National Figure Judge. When she isn't coaching, Jen and her husband Mickey enjoy spending time with their one and a half year old son Matthew.

Melissa Coons

Mel is a Sculpins alumna and swam with the team for a total of 12 years. While with the Sculpins she earned medals at the Association, Zone and Regional levels and swam in many national championships, US Opens, and Empire State Games. Mel graduated from Quinnipiac University in May 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a dual minor in Interactive Digital Design and Political Science. Mel is now employed at the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce as the Events and Program Assistant. She is a level 1 judge.

Jessica Budris

Jessica was an athlete member of the Sculpins. Prior to joining the Sculpins, Jessica swam for the Glens Falls Coquins and Adirondack Splash. Jessica is in her 8th year of coaching for the Sculpins and is currently working towards her national level judging credentials.

A native of Queensbury, NY, she is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (BS Chem '01, MS Chem '04). She currently works as Human Resource Generalist with GE Energy's Renewable Energy business.

Deirdre Depew

Deirdre swam with the Syracuse Synchro Cats from '86-'92. She then attended the United States Naval Academy for her undergraduate education. Upon graduation she was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy and went to Pensacola, Florida for Pilot training. From there she has lived all over the US and traveled extensively oversees. She is a Navy Lieutenant and a P-3 Pilot. She has a BS in Ocean Engineering from the Naval Academy and an MS in Industrial Management Engineering from RPI. Deirdre is a level 1 judge.

Christin Wolf

Christin is another Sculpin alumna who has come back to coach. She swam with the Sculpins for 9 years before moving to the Hudson Valley area. While with the Sculpins, she competed in several national age group competitions and earned medals at the Association, Zone and Regional levels. Christin graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 2002 (B.A. Psychology) and Hofstra University in 2004 (M.A. Industrial Organizational Psychology). Christin has returned to the Capital District and is currently working at SUNY Albany as a Budget Analyst. Christin is also the Head coach for the Competitive Swim Clinic at the Troy YMCA.
