The Sculpins Synchronized Swim Team affiliated with the
Capital District YMCA in 2000. Originally established in 1974, the
Sculpins have been training and developing synchronized swimmers ever
since. The team practices and trains at a different Capital District
YMCA branch each night. The Sculpin Booster Club, made up of parents
and friends of the team is a 501.c.3 not-for-profit organization and
welcomes your tax deductible contributions. United Way Campaign participants
can donate by designating Sculpins Synchro on their pledge card.
Our swimmers come from communities throughout the Capital
District and range in age from 7 to 18. They practice one to four
times a week depending on age, interest level, and ability. Personal
confidence and self esteem are nurtured on a team where the individual
efforts are positively reinforced by the other team members and coaching
staff.
Our coaching philosophy emphasizes both personal and
team development. It integrates the physical and mental aspects of
the sport to provide an experience that will benefit the swimmers
throughout their lives.
Swimmers of all ability levels are welcome to join the
Sculpins.
In addition to our competition teams, we offer beginner, novice and
masters classes.
